Welcome. I'm a husband, a father, an ordained minister, and a postmodern pilgrim. You can check out some of the projects I'm involved with below. In this space I mostly write about the intersections of Christianity and culture.

I think Steven Hamilton has it just right. Steve - we *should* get you started! Jesus reproduced himself in his disciples, even though his disciples never "measured up" to him. Every church should value training and releasing it's people to do the work of the ministry. When church leaders present virtual, holographic, or HD pastors says one of two things:
1). We think every other gift/role in the church can be replicated EXCEPT the preacher.
2). We value church as entertainment above our calling to make disciples.

Your observations about people's conversations revolving around the antics or behavior of "the pastor" are so on-target.

I think this is one of THE most important issues facing the modern church, but nobody is talking about it in the depth it needs to be talked about. Most of the conversation I've seen revolves around issues of practicalities and preferences.

video venues...it's too early for me to go there and how they stunt the releasing of others, the building of giftedness in others, and again- form a group of people in wrong ways...

Why is it that I'm getting a mental picture of a "Jedi Knight" performing a "mind minipulation" tactic...."Pay no attention to the pastor on the screen" or "This is not the pastor you're looking for...."

Serioulsy though, technology - just like everything else - can be a very good thing. It brings people closer in communication on a daily basis (e-mail, web cams, blogging, etc.) BUT obviously - just like everything else - the good can become addicting and abused, leaving the users empty and stripped of true essence.
