Welcome. I'm a husband, a father, an ordained minister, and a postmodern pilgrim. You can check out some of the projects I'm involved with below. In this space I mostly write about the intersections of Christianity and culture.

I have been a part on and off of the Vineyard since 89 at anaheim. The movement is becoming more and more like calvery. I miss playing and letting the spirt move. The Vineyard is dying and fast. It was different but now it is just calvery. It breaks my heart that even the worship music is not very intimate anymore. No one enters in to worship and do not seem to be excited to be at church. For me it is over and I have quite looking for another church. All church worship sucks no intimacy only about show. Very sad, My soul aches over the loss of what was because what is is no good.

Agreed Gary. There are fundamental questions still at stake here and those are key. I think what's most interesting about Tony Jones' post is the way he's measuring the health of Emergent (which, I should add, is quite distinct from the Emerging Church).

I think it depends on what you are measuring. How do we measure growth or decline? This leads us back to what we mean by the nature of church and discipleship.

[...] I’m not going to post/respond to what seemed like an indolent villification designed to attract comments (other than of course, that being a response in itself). Jason Coker provided one of the more thoughtful responses I’ve seen, and I would point you to his post here. [...]

"We were privileged to spend some time at the La Jolla Vineyard last year (it was a bit of a commute from Tijuana Mexico, but worth it). It was one of the most refreshing seasons I’ve experienced in recent Vineyard history."

Me too Robby. Although the commute from Oceanside is not nearly as long : )

We were privileged to spend some time at the La Jolla Vineyard last year (it was a bit of a commute from Tijuana Mexico, but worth it). It was one of the most refreshing seasons I've experienced in recent Vineyard history. I was a Vineyard pastor (VIctoria BC, Los Angeles CA), and long-time part of the movement (now full-time in YWAM), and I have to say that the Vineyard is alive and well in some places. :)

And while I don't attend a Vineyard just now, whenever I look at Vineyard theology and values, I can't think of a better fit for me. I wouldn't suggest that anyone should dismissively presume to write an obituary for the Vineyard. 'Nuff said.
