Welcome. I'm a husband, a father, an ordained minister, and a postmodern pilgrim. You can check out some of the projects I'm involved with below. In this space I mostly write about the intersections of Christianity and culture.

I am really interested in the SVS. I will probably try for the next one. There is something about the Vineyard that encourages (or did and should still) a healthy relationship with the academic community. I blame Wimber for this wonderful development. I think his relationship with Fuller was a wonderful blessing to us as a movement.

I'll be watching for these posts. I will probably catch up on this blog (Steven Hamilton gave me the heads up on your Vineyard distinctives series) in a week when I've submitted my thesis proposal.

blessings,
Frank

Steven - They haven't sent the papers out to everyone yet. I spoke to Caleb today and he said that process is moving pretty slowly.

I tend to agree Chad. In the end, however, names really aren't what is most important. They will make a good or bad first impression, but over time you're identity is shaped by the character of your content. Let's hope the character of SVS proves, over time, to be open, humble and gracious.

Also, I think it's more than the name. Academic groups have a reputation that precedes SVS.

I appreciate Bert's clarification and for you and Jason blogging about the purpose and makeup of the Society of Vineyard Scholars. However, I think the need to do so shows that it is a rather unfortunate name.

I do look forward to the discussions.

cool. I look forward to this series.

BTW - I finished reading your SVS paper last night and it was pretty good. I will try to type up some of my comments/thoughts and email them to you later on today (or this week, depending on how my day goes!). =P
