MLK In America
Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of breathtaking national moral vision whose dedication to the way of Christ in political protest (via Ghandi) has transformed our nation, making us not only more equal, but empathetic and compassionate as well. It would be difficult to catalog the changes for good in our midst that can be traced back to his life. My life, and my family’s life is better because of his.
He was also a man of disturbing personal moral failings. His destructive sexual transgressions were largely an open secret during his lifetime and in the 80′s it was sadly discovered that he plagiarized much of his Doctoral dissertation.
Altogether, he bears a remarkable resemblance to our greatest biblical heroes of faith. Thank you Martin. We miss you.
