Besides, I usually jokingly tell people (if they poke fun - which is a rarity) that they're just jealous because they don't have soft hair like mine to play with and that they're not that talented (when it comes to purposely twisting my hair in knots and successfully getting them out. Though every now and then it backfires on me) Yes, I do agree that it makes you feel better. It's like a calming affect. My earliest memory is from kindergarten but I think it started before then but only God knows when.:-) Maybe we should start our own group. Seeing yourself on camera shows you how silly you are. When I was little I never got in trouble for it but I did, and do, get made fun of sometimes. About ten years ago I wanted to stop. I felt like it was kinda like sucking my thumb or something. I tried but I had to come to the realization that twirling my hair makes me feel better. The fact of the matter is I like doing it. I don't know why I started or why I continued but here I am 38 and still putting knots in my hair. When I was a little girl my mom would put my hair in spongy curlers and if she didn't leave a little piece out I couldn't go to sleep. I guess I could have taken up smoking or some other dirty habit but I have yet to hear of someone killing themselves by hair twirling.
